Eric Bana’s Wife, Family and Children
Bana started dating Rebecca Gleeson, a publicist for the Seven Network and the daughter of Murray Gleeson, the then-chief justice of New South Wales and later the chief justice of Australia, in 1995 while they were both working on the television show Full Frontal. Bana proposed to her during a vacation to the United States that he won from Cleo Magazine after being chosen their “Bachelor of the Year” in 1996. They got married in 1997. Two children—a son named Klaus (born in July 1999) and a daughter named Sophia—were born to Bana and Gleeson (born April 2002). They are Melbourne-based. His birth surname, Banadinovi, still appears on his official identification documents. In the 2019 Birthday Honours, Bana received an appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contributions to drama.

Eric Bana loves motor racing and competes in a number of Australian racing events. He planned to quit school at the age of 14 to devote himself entirely to being a mechanic, but his father persuaded him to finish it, telling him not to turn his hobby into a career. At the age of 15, Bana purchased a 1974 XB Ford Falcon coupé for A$1,100, which he used to make his motorsports debut in the Targa Tasmania 1996, a seven-day race across Tasmania. Bana bought a Porsche 944 in 2004 to participate in Australia’s Porsche Challenge. Throughout 2004, he competed and frequently ranked in the top ten. In November, he achieved a personal best by finishing fourth at the Sandown event.
