Christopher Hemsworth was born to the social services counsellor Craig Hemsworth and English teacher Leonie (née van Os) Hemsworth on August 11, 1983 in Melbourne. After Luke (born 1980) and before Liam (born 1990), both of whom are actors, he is the second of three boys. His paternal heritage consists of English, Scottish, and German ancestry, while his maternal grandfather is a Dutch immigrant and his maternal grandmother is Irish.
